Asia-Pacific to Remain Net Importer of Alkylate

Stratas Advisors

The Asia-Pacific region, which is short on alkylate production, will remain a net importer of alkylate as gasoline demand will remain strong. The region currently relies on imports from Europe and the Middle East. The following chart shows alkylate supply and demand for Asia-Pacific.

Global alkylate demand will remain strong in short- and long-term. Even though developed countries will have a decline in gasoline demand in the coming decade, overall global demand will remain strong.

Increasing global gasoline demand, coupled with stringent gasoline specifications, including RVP, will keep alkylate demand strong for the global market. More-efficient engines (high compression and direct injected) prefer higher-octane gasoline.
